If I import footage into imovie, is it possible to place on my external HD, take to a different computer, and bring into FCP with no problem? I don’t want to try that and get to the other computer to find its “missing files.” The reason I ask? I haven’t installed FCP into MY computer yet, so I use my school’s equipment. If this is possible, is there something it should SAVE AS in imovie, or should it be altered in someway before I save it?

Let me know if you have any suggestions and Thank You for your time!

The iMovie footage can be used in FCP. iMovie records video as DV streams not QT files. iMovie also records 32khz audio so when you import the files into FCP the audio will need to render. Other than that, the DV video is the same quality and totally useable in FCP.

    Hope this helps-
