    Greetings,

I have a tricky workflow issue which I am not sure will even work. I am working with middle-school students who are collaborating on a video project. The problem is some of them are using PCs and some are using Macs.

Here is the workflow I am trying to figure out for one project:

1: footage is edited in iMovie on a Mac.

2: footage needs to be color corrected by another student who is using Aftereffects on a PC

Is it possible to even accomplish this workflow? Help me help these students if you can, and I would be grateful.

    This should be pretty straightforward:

    iMovie will output a Quicktime

    AE will import a Quicktime

Export the QT movie from iMovie (if the choice is there, the M-JPEG-A setting works quite well – good looking, smallish file size. Color Correct in AE. You don’t say what your final playback will be on, but you can export a Quicktime out of After Effects easily if you’re going back to the Mac platform. If you’re going to a DVD, output 720 x 480 from After Effects, and burn to DVD.

Here’s a quick snippet on exporting from iMovie – Apple suggests MPEG-4 if you have QT 6 or later:
