A very important client gave me a DVD full of clips that he’s shot on his home video camera of a friends wedding and asked me if I wouldn’t mind cutting them together as a favour.

Thing is the clips are all in an mpg format that FCPX, FCP7, Premiere Pro or Avid will not read. I then tried iMovie, I don’t think I’d ever opened iMovie before – it sure does look like FCPX! Anyway all the clips imported after a while and they played OK. Then I imported the iMovie project into FCPX and the whole thing edited with no issues!

Worth bearing in mind if you ever face a similar situation!

Cant quite make up my mind if the recent couple of posts pointing out the ability of FCPX to work with iMovie projects means that it is really quite useful or are just damning it with faint praise.

    best wishes

Wow. You really created quite a lot of interest with your positive post about FCP X and iMovie.

True, but I’m really hoping your excellent use of sarcasm will really help the thread along
