iMovie and MPEG files
Hey…. Is there a way that I can import mpeg video files (with audio) into iMovie and be able to burn a DVD. Right now, when I import mpeg files and try to burn them to a disc, all I get is the video, no audio. Why is that? As a matter of fact I don’t have any audio on my timeline either. How do I convert mpeg files to be able to use them with iMovie.

You have to “demux” the video stream when it is MPEG. Basically, the video and audio are put in one stream… So you can use a “demuxer”…

Or, a quick and easy way to get MPEG to DVD is Toast… I record TV using El Gato’s Eye TV to MPEG1 files and then use Toast to burn DVDs that play in my DVD player and get 8 to 9 hours of shows per disk (although, at 320×240 resolution).
