Image Transform
Hi, I’m a novice at After Effects and I’m trying to do an effect which has confused me.
I have a hand drawn image that has been drawn on paper and scanned in. I then opened the image in photoshop and used the clone stamp tool to remove the pen marks on the page. So now I have 2 images, the drawing, and one that looks like a blank piece of paper.
I want to make the pen slowly appear on the paper as if it’s being drawn by someone. I thought maybe the paper image could be animated to crop over time, but I can’t see an effect to do this so I’m not sure what to try next.
Any help is appreciated, thanks

Hi,
You could draw and animate a mask shape by keyframing its path. Or keep it simple and use one of the Transition group of effects. A linear wipe or radial wipe would be best.

You could explore other methods using the Write-On, Stroke or Paint effects.
Paint would be the most versatile option as you can tweak individual strokes after the fact:
