I am converting a few shots into image sequences to be put into Maya for match moving. I tried importing an avi but Maya didnt accept it. Anyway, the issue is that After Affects automatically names the files in the seqence as name_0001, name_0002 etc. This is an problem with Maya, as to recognise an image sequence it requires the following naming convention: name.0001, name.0002 etc.

Is there a way to change AE’s naming convention for my image sequences?

When you name the file, just replace the underscore with a period. If you want to permanently change this, I think that there is a way in the text prefs, but not positive…

    Hi,

In the render queue, there is a small arrow right next to “output to” where you set the filename. Click on that and select “custom” This will give you a window that allows you to change the naming convention.

At any rate, it works this way in AE 7.

    Hope this helps,

    Lars

Or use this little thing to rename them all to whatever format you need: https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php
