    Hi guys,

I’ve seen lots of posts about image pixelation, but can’t find a previous reference to my problem in the archives, so I apologise if this has been answered already.

I have produced an animation using Motion, exported it at current size (1440×1080- HDV1080i), best quality, no compression QuickTime Movie. I have a graphic in there that is a logo (white background + black text and white BG + blue and red logo) Once I have it in FCP, the rest of the animation is sharp and clear, the black text on the logo is sharp, but the logo itself has pixelated edges (badly) where the blue and red meet. I know blue and red on top of each other are bad news anyway, but I can’t understand why the logo looks so bad when everything else is so clear, including the text that is within the same original graphic (png format). The logo is crystal clear in Motion, so it has to be something to do with the export from Motion to QT .mov to FCP. Any suggestions as to why, and/or a solution to this problem?

Thanks for your time in helping with this, it’s much appreciated

    Michelle

    Hi,

This really isn’t an answer to the problem, but it might be an acceptable workaround. The problem might be related to rendering animations in an anamporphic format. If you set up your Motion comp using square pixels and a frame of 1920×1080 and then bring it in to FCP, you might get better image quality. FCP will want to render the animation out to the anamorphic format for actual playback when you cut it into your timeline, but it should look okay when FCP resizes it.

    Hope this helps,

    Lars
