  • Image not sizing properly when put on DVD

    I am using Premiere Pro CS4 and Encore CS4. I have a .flv video clip that has the following properties:

    544 X 408
    PAR = 1.0
    DAR = 4:3

    I import it into Premiere Pro. I then select “Scale to Frame Size”. After exporting the Premiere Pro sequence to Encore using dynamic link I add a menu, set the links and burn a DVD. When played back, the image is a little oversized causing the subtitles to be partly cut off. I am not applying subtitles to the video clip. It is a clip I downloaded from the web for my son to watch on the TV. I have tried redoing the entire process with “Interpret Footage” set to PAR conform to D1/DV NTSC (0.9091) as well but I get the same results after burning the video to DVD. Could someone provide some guidance please?

    Are you watching the DVD on a TV ? If so, you are seeing the normal results of “overscan”. Computer monitors show edge-to-edge, TVs scan so the edges are offscreen. Search for “title safe” online or in the help docs.
    BTW, NTSC video-DVDs are always 480×720 pixels. Always.

    Yes I am watching the DVD on a TV. I did come across the overscan information after my initial post.
