    Hey guys.

Just wondering if anyone has figured out how to fix Image Masks that aren’t working properly. I have a shape that I’ve created using the shape tool and wanted to put some noise on top of the shape. So I’ve added in a Noise generator, applied an Image Mask to it and set the source as the shape. When I turn both layers on, the Image Mask isn’t directly on top of the shape, but has moved it’s position and rotation.

It seems to only happen when I have another mask applied to the group that the Image Mask is in. Is this just a frailty of Motion, or is there a way around it?

    Many thanks!

It’s a little difficult understanding the circumstances that cause the problem. Can you upload the project so we can look at it?

    No worries. Here it is.

If you turn on any of the masks in the Bottom Half layer you should see what I was trying to describe. It also seems to happen if you change the opacity of the Shapes layer.

Of course there are work arounds for this, but it’s rather annoying to have to work around it.

Also don’t mind my 3 masks. I know I could have done it with one… 😛
