iMac Intel, HDV and FCP5
Bought an iMac Intel, upped RAM to 1Gb and graphic memory to 256. Captured HDV using FCP5 but when I open an individual file in QT7 only see a white screen while hearing the sound.
Furthermore, when I play the files in FCP, I get a dropped frames warning. The only way to solve this is play at half the frame rate.
I hear FC Universal is coming out. Will this solve my problems, or is there anything else I can do?

How are you running Final Cut 5? Apple says it won’t work on an Intel Mac right now. Did it actually load? I never thought to try it, but I supose it might actually open. But if you’re having problems that’s probably what Apple meant when they said it won’t work.
Yes, you’ll need to get the Universal version.

It loaded fine and I used it to capture 13 hours of HDV footage. Am now doing more viewing in order to make a paper-edit first, but using FCP and not QT because of the blank screen.
I’ll keep an eye on Universal then.

You can download a PDF form from Apple’s site right now and pre-order it. You need to send back your original FCP Studio discs in order to recieve the Universal version for $49.
