Imac i7 or early 2008 Mac Pro
Hi guys should i get early mac pro 8 core 2.8ghz or new Imac i7. I am looking for rendering speed here and using FCP. I know Imac comes with nice screen and all but mac pro has so many expansion slots and does it matter if it is ddr2 when it comes to rendering speed? Will i notice big differences from dd2 and 3? My other question is how much will i be able to upgrade this mac pro is it same as new mac pros 2009. I have read some place that i can only install 2 types of video cards in early 2008 mac are expansion slots same in erly 2008 and late 2009 mac’s?. I am interested in motion design, editing i know that new imac will give me speed for rendering but it will not help me when it comes to FCP Cine,ma 4d After effects and color correction, motion, and multilayer editing. i will spend 2000 for mac pro and 2500 for Imac but i can only have one.

I’d go MacPro.
Try looking for a refurbished Xeon MacPro. I bet you can find one for around $2500 that you will spend on the iMac.
