imac as monitor for Mac Pro through network.. (screen sharing, ichat, or remote desktop etc) without lag (minimal lag?)
I have been using an imac and recently got an older Mac Pro that I would now like to use because its faster (has 4 cores and 6gb of ram, rather than 2 cores and 4gb of ram). Both are running 10.6.8
I got the cords to connect the imac directly based on an article from apple below (mini display on imac / dvi on Mac Pro:
https://support.apple.com/kb/ht3924but “target display” doesn’t work. Apple made an announcement that (which i can’t find anymore..) that you could only use target display through thunderbolt, which is why mini display do dvi didn’t work. However it was in reference to 2008 imacs I think and mine is mid-2010.
Anyways, I’m thinking if I have my macpro hooked up to the internet, and my imac hooked up to the internet, can I use my MacPro through my imac as.. a remote desktop or something? Something like screen sharing, ichat, remote desktop.
The purpose is to use a faster MacPro for Final Cut Studio, so if there’s going to be a huge amount of lag, it might defeat the purpose.
any ideas?
thanks
