I’m trying to use my HVX to capture tapes shot on another cam
Hello Creative Cow Community..
I hoping to get some assistance with some trouble I’m having..
I shot a 2 camera shoot 2 days ago.. I shot on my HVX and my buddy on his cam (sony HVa-u1 or something like that)
I have the tapes and I’m trying to capture his tapes with my Pan HVX but the time-code plays back funny on the HVX. At the begging of the tape the time-code isnt at 0:0:0 where it would normally start.. but more like 6:53:02 for example.
I was wondering if there was any way to rest the TC or a better way around this. I have four mini DV’s to capture and want to know what’s the best way around this. I don’t have access to his camera so thats out the window too.

There is no way to reset the timecode. If he shot in HDV with his camera, you better get a hold of his camera or an HDV deck cause his tapes will not play in your camera.

It was shot in standard deff so I thought I should be able to capture, no?

It sounds like he didn’t zero out the timecode at the beginning of the shoot – nothing wrong with the HVX that’s just how it’s been recorded. Otherwise you should be fine.
