  • I’m stumped…prior clip reappears over newly edited clip

    This one has me good!
Editing on FCP 6.06 on MacPro. Half hour show with lots of clips.
Everytime I insert a new clip-does not matter what clip it is-into the timeline at one particular place, I get part of that clip and then one from earlier in the edit cuts in as if I’ve dropped it in.

I had been moving tracks around prior to this occurrence. I have rebooted, and imported the same clips from XDCAM Transfer (EX3 1080p/30) several times. It’s like I have a hidden video track on top of all the other tracks.
    ARRRRGGGHHH!!!

Exclaiming “ARRRRGGGHHH!!!” doesn’t help much. So, trash your preferences and fix permissions using the Apple Disk Utility and get back to editing.

Or delete your render files and re-renderI’veve seen this before; scary, but likely just a system hiccup.

or open a new project and create a new sequence and copy footage onto it… It might be a corrupted sequence

Thank you all for your help. Sorry for the scream. After I finished my tantrum, I got similar answers from a more experienced editor in town. New sequence, copy and paste did the trick.
I’ll bookmark this one for future debugging.

    Once again, Thank You.

I think I’ve experienced the true definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results…
