  • Illustrator shapes into after effects?

Posted by Peter Stenhouse on July 15, 2005 at 10:29 am

Hi there. I was hoping to bring in IllustratorCS shapes into After effects either as masks or as motion paths. I have tried copying and pasting the selected path from illustrator into the position field of null or an effect and it doesn’t seem to work. What am i doing wrong? Vector layer masks seem to import from Pshop, but I can only get rasterized stuff from illustrator.
    Thanks for your help

Are you sure you have set your clipboard format in illustrator correctly? It should be the ADB-something, not PDF compliant.

Go to Preferences > Files & clipboard and make sure PDF and AICB is checked in the copy settings. Then make a new solid and your shape should paste as a mask
