PDF check, AICB check, release to layers check. This is probably the umpteenth Illustrator to AE project(just finished up a big one last year for Coke). I know how to do it. It no longer works.

Layers are being re-combined by After Effects CS5 into a new uneditable layer. The AI file has 32 layers, AE imports them into a comp with just 4 flat layers. So it’s kind of working.

Anyone run into this. Of course delivery is tomorrow.

Yep, AI project is in RGB. It’s just weird. I’ll try another restart. I swear Macs are getting flakier every year.

Restarts do nothing. I physically have released to layers and saved different formats, CS2, Cs3, Cs4, Cs5, EPS, PDF, nothing works. AE brings in my AI file as a previous version of my working file ie”_001″ even though I select “_002” or “_003”.

    Hmmm…this is after fresh restarts.

Sweet Jesus, after over 4 hours of doing the same thing over and over, it finally is working again. No rhyme or reason, no rhythm either. Importing AI files just started working correctly. A Christmas Miracle for sure.
