I’ve got a complex vector image inside a document and I want to crop it.

I’ve tried using a clipping mask but it seems like a temporary solution as the unwanted points are still there, albeit out of sight. Can I clean up the clipping mask to make the effect permanent, deleting the paths cleanly underneath?

Or is there a more efficent method altogether?

    Thanks

I’d like to know the answer to this too. Anyone know?
    Thanks.

I’d vote for a clipping mask and setting the document size appropriately.
It’s a balance judgment, based on the the time it would take to optimize a vector and working with a complex illustration that uses numerous nesting techniques – like masks, etc.
Otherwise, as Rene offered, the tools in the pathfinder palette would be my next option.
