I am trying to ad some effects to a avi file 360×270.
It’s 1200 frames long. When I add an effect, Illsion slows down to a crawl!
I add a simple effect like star glownet and it takes forever
I have to wait 20 to 30 seconds before I can do anything.

    I have a Dell 8200 pentium 4 2.26GHz 1 gig of ram. Nvidia gforce 5500.
    I have open GL on.

    Any suggestions.

I imagine that it has something to do with the length of the clip. Are you adding effects throughout the 1200 frames, or just to short segments of the clip? If it’s just small sections of it, you may want to just bring in those shots that you need to add the effects to, instead of the whole thing.

It could also be the codec that you’re using on the clip. Some codecs, especially mpeg4 ones (divx, xvid, 3ivx) get reallly slow when you scrub back and forth, so they aren’t very good for animation and video editing work.

Thanks, I think it’s the AVI. When I use targa files there is no problem.
