Identifying which single audio track is logged
Posted by Neil Ryan on November 22, 2006 at 4:51 amIf you log a clip with Video and Audio Track 2, FCP shows these tracks as 1V,1A.
How can you tell, once you’ve logged only 1 audio track of the 2 or 4 available, which of those tracks was logged?
Thanks,

November 22, 2006 at 4:57 amScroll to the RIGHT in the Browser columns until you find the one that contains the info you want.
You can drag that column over so that it is visible all the time. I rearranged the columns so that this one sits right next to the one you described.

I went so far to the right, I changed political parties!
Any more clues? If you mean the column ‘Tracks’, that only identifies HOW MANY tracks were logged, not WHICH tracks. Did I miss a column?

November 22, 2006 at 6:40 amif the clip is only logged ie is Offline, then you can select it and choose Modify > Clip Settings
you can investigate the clips audio capture settings in thereif the clips are already online, then without first making them offline you can’t use the above method
(of course, you could make them offline first, investigate the setings as above, and then reconnect afterwards but that sounds a bit tedious)if you really need the info you can export the clips as an XML file
and then parse the XML for the info (its all in there)hope it helps

November 23, 2006 at 12:08 amDon’t you find a column called “Audio”?
It contains lisings of “Stereo”, “A1″,”A2″,”A1+A2”, and “Mono Mix”.
I’m editing on FCP 4.5 on a DV timeling right now and its there.

Same problem.
It COUNTS the number of audio tracks and their type but doesn’t identify WHICH track is used.
i.e. it shows ‘1 mono’ whether I log/digitise either Audio Track 1 only or Audio Track 2 only.Again, seems I must ask Apple about this one.
