  • Ideas for effects to add to a football highlight video?

Posted by Chris Garman on December 24, 2008 at 12:06 am

I’m fairly new to after effects. I’ve gotten into the basics and done some projects such as a Kinetic Type piece (check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc-IE_n5SG0). I’ve done some other small video editing things… Very Simple.

Anyway I want to get into a little more advanced stuff. I have a bunch of football clips basically just playing one after the other, synched up to music… but I’d like to give it some more umph. I’m thinking maybe some sort of effect on the ball when it’s being thrown… Or something showing a collision whenever there’s a big hit… I dunno i’d like it to cool cool without being cheesy. Any ideas are welcome, please!

Wow, that was pretty amazing… and exactly the kind of work I’d like to get into. Are there any tutorials for any effects you used you could point me towards?

your very kind. Im sorry, Im pretty much self taught. I have a college degree in Design and Illustration, but the computer stuff I practiced and practiced without a life for many years. I do believe in tutorials when it comes to learning HOW TO USE a given tool. Not so much how to make a specific thing. Once you understand, really understand how
a plug in or tool operates, than you can pretty much be the guy that MAKES the looks others try and find tutorials to duplicate.

again, sorry I dont have any tutorials. Im always happy to share what I used and how I accomplished a given look, if your specific.
Im very lucky right now, im really busy with work. If I get any real free time in the future I may consider doing a creative Cow master series dvd, or some tutorials. I just cant commit when im this busy for now……

WOW is right. i have the same thoughts as Chris Garman, that is a pretty amazing clip of your work Scott and i to want to get into it just as a hobby tho. although you’re a busy man, i do hope you’ll find time in the future to start up some kind of tutorial or series of dvd. i would be interested in your series.

again good job on your little clip and hope to be hearing from you.
