can any one tell me the ideal bit rate for dvds? i need to render out a video from aftereffects using the mpeg2-dvd codec and when i use the defualt settings the bit rate seems to be too high so that older dvd players can’t keep up and the audio get sout of synch. i’m hoping this is a settign i can change in aftereffects.

ideally you should use an external compressor like Media Cleaner or Apple’s Compressor. They can do VBR (Variable Bit Rate) so that the image is always optimized.
