    Hello All…

Quick question. I have been given an ID pass exported out of Maya…basically colored mattes from which I can isolate objects for coloring etc.
Normally I have only been given ID passes which use black white rgb and alpha, and have been able to use shift channels to extract the matte i needbut this is a complicated 3d render and so I have been given ID passes with purples and other colors.
What is the quickest way to extract these colors from the ID pass…

In its simplest my question is: how do I extract an exact color from an image sequence…keep it and lose everything else in the image. preferably I would like to be able to do this without precomping etc…

I just feel there must be an easy way to do this…

    Thanks

    Ross

    Hi,

You can use a Color Key effect, key the colour you want, then apply an Invert to the alpha channel and that’s it, you’ve keyed out everything but the matte you need.

Then, of course, you need to repeat this for every ID colour.
