Last year at NAB Apple demo’d how you can use iChat to send out video from FCP to a client with an AOL IM account. Does anyone know how this works and how you set it up. I believe you had to come out of a deck via firewire and then into your machine or maybe a different machine and then assign that firewire input as the video camera for iChat…any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    matt,

    Yep, you’re right.

My understanding of this process is that it requires TWO macs to pull it off. One to run FCP and output the timeline via Firewire. The other to run iChat and accept the “timeline” output as the iChat camera. You can’t run FCP and iChat all at the same time. (at least not yet)

You can use one mac but with special circumstances. You need to be using a capture card that has firewire built in. You would output from the capture card and into the Firewire on the Mac and bingo.

    Hope this helps-
