i7 processor with premiere cs4 anyone use?
Has anyone tried the new i7 processor with premiere cs4?
I am waiting till they come out with the laptops with the i7 processor chip to upgrade seeing quad core laptops are like carrying around a desktop.

Brentps right now I am running a core duo xp with 2.2 hz processor with cs3 premiere and using an panasonic hvx-200 with dvc-proHD at 720p.
it works but I would love better performance.

You will certainly get better performance at render time, but it comes to a point where drives become the bottleneck (especially in a laptop). I would recommend a SATA RAID system attached.

Good Point. I have a sata drive and a sata port from an express card adaptor that I bought. It works well. This laptop only has 2 gigs of ram too but the processor is overclocked so it kinda helps. I definately want to upgrade when I can though. I can’t work on a desktop seeing I am always mobile with my productions. 9 times out of 10 I usually hand the client the finished product before I leave the facility.

I recently upgraded to an i7 processor (from an older dual-core) and use Premiere CS4 to edit my AVCHD footage. The difference is HUGE. My render times are 5 times faster in some cases and I can now playback the timeline completely smoothly, even with some filters applied. Prior to the upgrade, I was hardly able to play back more than a few seconds without problems.
Go for the i7 – it’s well worth it.
