I had this strange problem since installing a Decklin Extreme card in my editing system that goes as follows :

Audio would sound distorted and fade away until no audio at all.
External monitor hooked up with component signal would sometimes blink white or green during render or start of playback of the timeline.

I would get the “serious error” message a lot during editing.

My setup is a P4 3.2 with 2G RAM DDR400, 1 System SATA drive, 1 SATA Raid 0 with 2 drives and one SATA Drive for audio. I have an external M-audio Firewire 410 interface for the audio

I installed the 5.4 drivers and found that the audio and blinking issue is seemingly related to a sync issue, as the M-audio and the Decklink seems to be fighting over this. I set the sync in the M-audio setup to external coaxial (the SPDIF input) and let the Decklink issue the sync signal.
Also I set the Decklink audio as harwarde in Ppro.

Since then the system seems stable.
    I keep my fingers crossed.

Apart from these annoying issues the Decklink rocks!
Can wait to see how it will perform under Ppro 2…
