Not sure what you’re asking. You can just open a clip in the trimmer, put the cursor at the beginning of the segment you want and press “I”. Then put the cursor at the end of the segment and press “O”. Then you can drag that segment to the main timeline or use “A”.

If you do this, then you want to extend the end of the clip as a still (so as to add a transition in there) do you have to make a ‘still’ of the last frame and then add it. If you drag the end of the clip it just continues the clip from where you had trimmed it?

You still have the full clip available to you – it’s not a sub-clip unless you want to make it one (and you CAN). So… just extend it longer and all will be fine – you’ll just see more of the clip.

The problem is that I don’t want to extend the clip, I want to extend the last frame of the shortened clip as a still picture. I wish there was an easier way than ‘taking a picture’ of the last frame , adding it to the end of the clip and then adjusting its length.

There is. Make it a SUBCLIP with looping turned OFF. Then the last frame can be extended forever.

Maybe i can’t get the in and out editing to work because i have looping on? When I click I for in….curser is there but doesn’t set it as a in point……it’s like the beginning of a looping.
    Thanks for your reply. Gary
