    So-
Our camera person shot 720p60 29.97 and everything I have Logged and transferred is in slow-mo. Yuck. I am trying to find a way to convert footage to 59.94fps playback. We have found a work around in after effects, but it only works for half the clip, then just freeze frames the 2nd half.
    What to do?

I don’t want to have to play at 200%ish speed in FCP and render every file!

Uncheck the option to ‘remove advanced pulldown/duplicate frames’ in the log and transfer preferences. It’s located in the menu that looks like a little gear on the L&T window.

Yeah, tried that first thing- doesn’t work. Footage isn’t getting “pulled-down” and isn’t duplicating frames. It has 60 frames that are playing back at 30fps.

Ouch, so it was shot 60 over 30pN?

    Is there audio?

yes indeed. audio actually isn’t important for this project, but i would like some way to batch convert footage if possible.

[Susie Smith] “audio actually isn’t important for this project,”

OK, but is there audio attached to the clip? Just checking something.

Well, you can use Compressor to speed up the footage 50% then write a 60p file…Haven’t tested that but it might work. If you are willing to upload 2-3 seconds of material, I would be happy to come up with a recipe for you.

I’m not sure about if any audio came in, but I think not. I’ll check.

I tried a couple different things in Compressor, but none of it seemed to work. The quick and dirty solution I’ve come up with is to put it in a timeline in FCP, put its speed to 200%, then export the clips.

We also tried to put it through AE. We set it to interpret at 60fps, then exported. This almost worked, except that half way through the clip it freeze frames.

Yes, that is what I was going to try as well. You can also do this in Compressor in a batch.

    Audio on those clips?

    no audio.

What is the best way to do the batch export through Compressor? Select all the sped up clips in the timeline, then batch export thru compressor?
I was just going to select each clip separately from timeline, and export fat movie.

[Susie Smith] “What is the best way to do the batch export through Compressor?”

I’d just take the raw files out of the capture scratch folder and bring them to compressor. In the frame controls tab you can then change the speed and reoutput to a new QT movie. I odn’ tknow how many you have, but I’d only setup about 30 files at a time, Compressor seems to choke on more than that. So you’d load up 30 files, apply your preset then hit submit. OPen Batch monitor and wait until you see Compressor start to work. At that point, you can then setup the next 30 files and submit them. Hope that makes sense.
