I need an effect that “looks” like sound waves being thrown
I need an effect for Apple Motion that looks like soundwaves are being thrown by someone — a distort effect, looking like ripples, but that can be made to lok like they’re being thrown at someone — I’ve seen it in movies, but can’t think of an example…..

I would take a look at the Distortion filters. If the person throwing the sound-waves doesn’t get effected by the distortion you will need to duplicate the clip and mask out the talent so they are not effected by the effect. Hope this helps.

Noise Industries FX have a filter in their FX Factory Pro called TORUS LENS. This is a filter you need to achieve your effect.

Coremelt has a filter called Distort Pond, part of their shatter effects.
