I know this isn’t a motion Forum, but lets be serious…nobody answers posts in that forum. I’m hoping that somebody can help me out with a very small task…

In FCP, I use the “Travel Matte – Luma” composite mode quite frequently when building transitions. I have a full screen graphic on V2, and my Matte on V1. I set composite mode on the graphic on V2 to “Travel Matte – Luma.” I need to add the basic 3D filter to a transition I am building, so I have to do this in motion. HERE IS MY PROBLEM:

When I send the sequence to Motion, it ignores the composite modes that are associated with the tracks. I need to do one of the following: Tell Motion to import the composite modes with the clips – or – Set the composite mode in motion to Travel Matte – Luma. DOES ANYONE KNOW A WAY TO DO EITHER OF THESE???

I’d be happy to share the transition when it is complete. I am duplicating the transition commonly used in TNT’s NBA halftime and postgame reports…

    Thanks In Advance!

    Brian,

[Brian Pitt] ” know this isn’t a motion Forum, but lets be serious…nobody answers posts in that forum. I’m hoping that somebody can help me out with a very small task…”

Not true the fact that you haven’t got an answer for your question could be:-

    1) Nobody knows
    2) Everybody is too busy at the moment to answer
    3) We don’t know what you are trying to do or your question is too vague.

Anyway, I’ll have a go at it as you’ve posted here as well.

Just add an image mask to your fill layer and then drop the key layer into the well.

    That should do it

I guess I wasn’t fair in saying that nobody ever answers the posts in that forum. In past months, I have posted a couple of postings that have gone unanswered, but you are correct in offering suggestions as to why…

Thanks for the help. I did just what you said and it looks pretty good. The only prolem is that the key layer is still BARELY showing through the mask. It looks like if I were to change the opacity to about 10%… any ideas?

I figured it out…the black on my mask was actually dark grey. thank you.
