We’re used to being ripped-off in Britain. Maybe that’s why they call it ‘Rip-Off Britain’. Still – this is rediculous.

I got all excited about my very own IO-HD, as a MBP owner who fancies a little bit of fun on the side – away from our facilities. The $3495 price is right too – a little under

The dollar is reaching new highs against the British Pound every day. Currently around 2:1…that’s right two dollars buys one pound. Yikes!

Tell me about it – every time I go to the States for work, I come back loaded down with iPods etc. for people. Bought two Macbooks last time – you get great service in a Mac store when you lay down a few thou…

Actually, every so often, Apple do readjust the European prices to sort-of match. It’s just swung so far off again, that my boss is now considering taking his wife to New York for a short break, just so he can pick up a couple of Mac Pros and AJA cards etc. with the savings. With AJA products we always speak to the USA support people anyway, so this is usually a good way to buy kit for us. Your loss, European distributors…

That sounds bad news ben, i was just about to order one but will now re think and maybe buy the new Blackmagic box and do without the laptop location ability of the AJA box.

Still AJA must be happy to lose sales in the UK with that sort of silly pricing.

Ben if you do come to the states for your equipment, please bring a Keg of Stella with you or a Keg of 1664. I’ll have the items waiting for you and i’ll even cook a big pot of Gumbo and Jambalaya and maybe even a Crawfish Boil to enjoy with our beer.

    Thanks

    Mmmm – Gumbo.

Stella? Over here they call that “wifebeater”. Less said the better. Please note that all the beers you mention are not from the UK – although I prefer them in general to our stuff. And your beers (not the local micro stuff) is universally awful. IMHO.

I guess you better talk to Adobe too. Was another thread on here a few weeks ago from Peter Wiggins about their pricing.

absolutely … calling that other stuf beer is a crime!

by the way .. if its of any interest. due to the downright bizarreness of the exchange rate system, and the fact that HK’s dollar is pegged to the US dollar, HK’s AppleStore can often be even cheaper than the States for Apple products … go to an Apple retailer and offer them cash and it gets cheaper still.
