I keep hitting up arrow and deselecting my clip and losing my in point!
Hi there. Something I find very frustrating in FCPX is that it does not remember your in and out points in the browser. I often press up to go to the in point I selected (as per FCP7) only for the previous clip in the browser to be selected. When I go back to the clip I was working with the in point is lost. This is very annoying!!! I tried to re-assign the arrow up key but it won’t let me (greyed out).
Any ideas to improve my workflow other than get used to Shift-I?

Well, you can assign Go To Start/End to different keys, but SHIFT+I/O has always worked fine for me.
I understand the frustration with losing IN/OUT points. I honestly hope it’s on the list of feature upgrades. I’ve gotten very used to using F to favorite/save my selects or my IN/OUT points. I actually like the fact that hitting up/down arrow will select a new clip in the browser even if the timeline is active. Dropping clips into the timeline quickly without mouse click is easier than ever because of that. But it will get you occasionally until you’ve un-learned that particular bit of muscle memory.

I didn’t like that either, but like Andy, I hit F to make a favorite.
I do like that in a long clip (20 min interview) I can have multible in’s and out’s within that same clip.
As I’m logging an interview I can be picking out sound bites with the fav’s as I go.
Kind od like using markers to make notes but just another option.
Kind of like sub-clips without the extra media.
