Why Sean?
Adobe does not, Microsoft does not.It is and always has been the responsibility of the individual user to care for their own machines.
It has never been any ones responsibility to upgrade, therefore if you upgrade something on your computer you then take on the responsibility to maintain it.

I with you on this one Gary.
Everyone knows that updates, upgrades and crossgrades can at times go less than perfectly, for whatever reason — so, one can either choose to cover their butts by cloning, or gamble without a clone. Should Apple be responsible if we choose to gamble?

My response to that has already been made in this thread by jmf:
[jmf] “Microsoft and Apple were pretty optimistic when they invented the automatic update? As long as we hold the software companies harmless, they will enjoy a certain incompetency.”
