and here is the problem – an error message comes up that V6 cannot find the audio plug-ins that were used on most of the audio. What gives? Anyone have an idea how I can fix this. The upgrade apparently zapped V4 off my puter for good.

The names changed from “Sonic Foundry” to “Sony” between those two versions.

The names changed…you mean file names – pretty dumb upgrade then. I had 4e which did change (or thought it did) everything to Sony. Has this happened to you as well?

I was just taking a stab. If you go to add an effect in Vegas 4 (even 4e) you’ll see the effect names begin with “Sonic Foundry” while in 5 and 6 they begin with “Sony”. Can’t say for sure that’s the reason, was just throwing out a possibility.

Audio track defaults in earlier versions, [EQ gate compressor] are not auto insterted into channels any longer. This seemed to be the only changes for me.

The three auto inserted audio FX are all there on my 6.0b. If they are not on yours, try adding them manually then right click on track header and select “Set Default Track Properties”.

I wasn’t missing the feature. V6.0b does not load any audio track fx by default for me.
    I prefer it that way.

the V6 upgrade should not zap V2,V3,V4,V5 off your hard drive ..

you should find V4 on your drive = C:program filessonic foundryVegas4 … i still have all the old versions on one of my computers … and on 3 other computers i keep V3-V6 ..

Oops, I missed that part. The Vegas 6 install will not touch Vegas 4. I too have a machine with Vegas 4, Vegas 5, and Vegas 6 all installed and all working.

The download upgrade did remove V4 off my puter. Strange.

I don’t see how that is possible unless you MANUALLY chose the install location and chose where Vegas 4 was installed.
