  • I have Great news from MAGIX!

Posted by John Rofrano on May 26, 2016 at 5:47 am

As many of you know, I am a long time Vegas Pro user from Vegas Video 3. I am also the developer who, along with Douglas Spotted Eagle, has created all of the script plug-ins that VASST makes for Vegas Pro (e.g., Ultimate S Pro, Caption Assistant, ScatterShot 3D, GearShift, Fasst Apps. etc.). I also developed Vegas Pro Production Assistant which carries a Sony logo so, as you might imagine, VASST and Sony have a close partnership going back to the Sonic Foundry days.

During these years I have become friends many of the SCS staff and I was speaking with Gary Rebholz about what he’s up to and he has agreed to allow me to share some key points from that conversation with the Vegas Pro community:

I am happy to share with you that Gary Rebholz has accepted a position with MAGIX as the Vegas PO leading the effort. They have a small team of experienced Vegas developers on board, so there is domain knowledge along with several direct connections back to Sonic Foundry. In other words, he has a team that knows and loves this software! 😉

According to Gary, MAGIX intends to develop Vegas Pro into the future. MAGIX is a software company–not a hardware company trying to also do software–so they understand software development, and future Vegas development will not be as greatly hardware driven as it was in the past few years.

Gary said that MAGIX is currently looking into how they can continue the great Vegas Forum community and want to place a new premium on user feedback and input.

I take all of this to mean that Vegas Pro has a bright future with MAGIX and you can stop worrying. Vegas Pro has truly found a new home with a company that is serious about delivering quality software that is driven by user feedback. You couldn’t have asked to be dealt a better hand.

I’m thankful to Gary for allowing me to share this news with the community instead of asking me to keep it to myself (under NDA).

You can view it as the shape of things to come. You now know as much as I do. (…but I know you will speculate anyway) 🙂

    Cheers,

    ~jr

That are great news Johnny, and it is wonderfull to have Gary again on board to develop Vegas further. And off course also some of the experienced developer.

Some of you may know that I have not only used Vegas since Vegas 4 been one of the co-founder of the German Vegas forum vegasforum.de and that we have today a living German Vegas community in my forum videotreffpunkt.com. I have also been acting as betatester since Vegas 6. In a first email contact with one of the topmanagers of Magix I have received also the impression that there is the strong intention to continue with the development of Vegas, and find back to the old spirit that Vegas had in the past.

All together that are great news even if we have to understand that it may take some time to organize all the necessary points, as usual after such an akquisition of a bunch of for Magix new products. So the community will have to be patient at the moment.

    Kind regards,
    Wolfgang

    [Antonis Rozakis] “thats good news..”

    Spectacular news indeed.

Not just the content, John, which is heartwarming, but that Gary must have been given the permission from MAGIX to make this news public. So, in this new dawn of openness, it would appear, dearest VegHeads, we are going to be knocking on an opening and opened MAGIX-Agenda Portal.

I truly look forward to being once more involved with any future BETA developments for VEGAS-MAGIX (or what ever it is to be called . . . . ) – I’m rolling up my sleeves in anticipation!

YES! That is the most important point of all. MAGIX seems to be very customer driven. This is good news.

Magix support team seems very strong and probably quite a lot of people, and very responsive on any social media.

Even on Amazon.com, they reply any ‘bad review’ or question on the Magix’s product.
    Here’s one example: https://www.amazon.com/MAGIX-Movie-Edit-2016-Plus/product-reviews/B015PIIGQ6/ref=dp_db_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
Look for 1 star review, and you will see one reply comment by Magix Support team.

When I also share the Magix post from their Facebook Fan page (https://www.facebook.com/MAGIX/) (https://www.facebook.com/setiawan3d/posts/10153773184092637?pnref=story), they ‘like’ my post. None usually doing that. Even it is extremely tiny factor, but the effect quite huge (to me).

    Hi John
I do highly appreciate the way you inform the fan club () of Vegas Pro about the status. Whatever happens, I am glad the signs are directing in a v I v I d Vegas Pro. It might be even named: Magix-VP.
Even though I only joined the SVP onwards of SVP 9, and I am still an amateur on the learning curve, I am convinced, that this a great software. I love it!!!! One of the strength is also the COW forum with straight forward answers and helpful support. And you are one of the exponents keeping this forum very much alive.
    Thanks John!!!
