I have a question about masks
I am watching the 2nd DVD set of Total Trainings AE 6.5 and I am not having any luck with the mask project that Steve H teachs. The effect is suppose to be like a spotlight that moves from side to side. The trouble I am having has to do with being able to move the inverted mask around to the next position. What happen was I first made an adjustment layer, moved it above a brick wall layer the mask will move over, using the oval mask I made a cirle then inverted it to reveal the brick wall layer, if I move the mask the entire adjustment layer moves and you see my oval and the surrounding edge of the layer instead of just seeing the oval move. I have this feeling it is something simple, but I just now learning AE and I don’t know that much about this program. I did click on the stopwatch for Mask shape and the only thing that I seem to be able to move is the entire layer instead of only the mask.
The effect I get is the adjustment level moving with the inverted mask.
Please somebody help me.

make sure you have the mask selected and not the layer…

That was it. I was driving myself crazy because I was double clicking and loading the layer in the the c window and any ways I carefully selected the mask and it worked.
