[curtis] “I want to use an expression to either switch an Axis Point from one place to another. If I move the (X) Axis on a parent layer I want my child layer to have one Axis point, and if I move my (Y) Axis on the parent my child layer has a different Axis point.”
Umm, what are the criteria that define where that point is supposed to be? Layer size? Speed? Rotation? Does the interpolation of the anchor point position need to be smooth or is it some abrupt change? Anyway, what you are hinting sounds much more like you are trying to solve a parenting conundrum that doesn’t require any expressions at all. I would say you simply haven’t considered adding more Null objects to sort out your rotations and positions. If it makes you happy, we will gladly fix you up with some code, but without more details it’s just wild guessing.
[curtis] “My second question is, does anybody know how to build your own plugin. If I make this idea that I have work it would be nice if it were in a plugin form. and you add your own variables.”
You download the AE SDK from Adobe, learn to program in C/ C++/ C#, read a lot of books and then spend a few evenings testing, compiling, finding bugs, testing, compiling, finding bugs, testing, compiling, finding bugs, testing, compiling, finding bugs, testing, compiling, finding bugs, testing, compiling, finding bugs, testing, compiling, finding bugs, testing, compiling, finding bugs… Well, you get the idea. If you haven’t even an idea about how to create an expression, it’s way beyond you. but then again, I could be wrong and you might be referring to JSX scripting which is a different story entirely.
