Mine plays from playhead anyway I think as default. Option Space seems to make no difference>>>

If you use the skimmer, there’s a big difference.

It plays from the playhead instead of skimmer and it isn’t default as the skimmer always wins.

And the play from beginning of clip works in the Event since you can’t hit “home” or can’t hit go to range start if you have a range marked and want to start from the beginning of the clip.

This saves having to skim to the beginning of a clip in the browser and is very handy.

I can’t believe I just discovered these, I feel silly.

I’m still reeling from having it pointed out to me that in FCP 7 you could hit shift t instead of tttt. And I was using Legacy for 6 years before I discovered the hand tool! But how do youu play from beginning of clip in timeline in X?

[James Ewart] “But how do youu play from beginning of clip in timeline in X?”

Play from beginning of clip only works in Event browser.

In a project I will hit ; or : to get to the clip (up and down arrow works too).

You can also select a clip (or range) and hit “/” to play selection (which will jump the playhead to the beginning of the selection).

    This is awesome thanks!

I always hit home to jump to the beginning of a clip with a range in the event browser.. and I am constantly jumping to the first clip in my event. Its a habit I still need to break from FCP 7.

Exactly! This is why I can’t believe I just found this command.

Oh man, I hate playing from the skimmer. I just remapped space to play from play head and option-space to play/pause. Thanks for the tip!

It makes me think that we should be able to reverse the skimmer/playhead dominance with a modifier key at all times.

Add connected clip at skimmer, q, add connected clip at playhead, shift-q, just for example.
