I am usually running more than 2 programs at once. This is the case with my current issue. I had an IM program open and I thought I was typing a message, but FCP was still the selected program. I must have used some keyboard shortcuts to make something happen that I didn’t want.

Here is the problem…My canvas window is black. If I scroll through footage in my timeline, it isn’t being shown in my canvas window. I don’t know how to get it back. Any help?

hahaha…tried that. I even tried closing the program and hitting “don’t save.”

If I open up any other projects…I’m having the same issue.

Is “mirror on computer monitor” in A/V settings on?

Might trash your prefs and reboot too.

Try hitting “W” a few times and see what happens. If nothing changes after 1 press, press it 2 more times

Yeah you hit “W” which cycled through your wireframe modes. The default FCP opens with I believe is IMAGE. If you hit W again your select “IMAGE PLUS WIREFRAME” and if you hit W again you select “WIREFRAME”. Wireframe means no picture, just boxes.

You can also get to these options with the little view options drop down button (the right most button on top of the canvas and viewer).

Thanks! I loved getting the solution, but an explanation is also nice. I appreciate it.
