I can’t open Red Dragon files in Vegas 12
Posted by Will Kee on August 20, 2014 at 7:43 pmWhen I try to import Red Dragon media files (5K widescreen resolution), I get a message saying ‘Warning: an error occurred while opening one or more files. The reason for the error could not be determined’.
I have had no issues importing Red *Epic* R3D before, and I need to deliver an edit by Monday.
Please help/advise.
I was under the impression that Vegas 12 was cool with Red Dragon media.
Vegas 12 build 770.

August 21, 2014 at 12:08 amThat’s 5K footage and Vegas resolution limit is 4K….So maybe that’s
what causing the problem.Steve Rhoden (Cow Leader)

August 23, 2014 at 2:44 pmGot it and tried…. Unfortunately this specific Red Dragon format seems
to not be compatible with Sony Vegas as yet.
Rest of other Red formats are good, but remember Red Dragon is a
fairly new release!Steve Rhoden (Cow Leader)

Hi William,
Thank you for writing back.
I have spoken to our QA team about this, but unfortunately, it appears that Vegas Pro 13 does not support footage from the RED Epic Dragon camera at this time, although it does support R3D footage from other cameras, such as the RED One or the RED Epic.
