    Hey 🙂

I have been working on a lyric video for like 2 weeks. Today i was finishing it and when i saved it, my pc crashed. I turned my pc on again and when i tried to open the project this warning comes up: Unable to import file “C:\Users\Eric\Desktop\lyric.aep” as project (bad format or not readable).

I really need help to fix this. If it is any way to download a program that can go one save back, so i just loose the last part when it crashed i would be so happy.

    Some info:

    Windows 8
    After effects CS6 (11.0)

    Plugins that is installed:
    Trapcode Soundkey
    Optical Flare
    Sure Target

Thanks for fast answer. I have tried to import it, but it Didnt work. Do you know any program that could help me? I think if any program could jump backward 1 save it would be perfect. Or just recover the probect so i can open it where i stopped.

Did you by chance have auto-save on?

It’s too late now, but check out Walter’s Field Notes on Safeguarding After Effects Project Files [link] for the future.

I found out that my PC crash when i use color gradient on some text Layer. It crash when i drag my time thing over where that text is, but when i am on some places where there is no color gradient on the text layer there is no problems. Does any on you guys know why this happens?

I had a similar problem a while ago. I was using CS6, had issues, it would not open my file, so decided to try my project on another machine using CC and it worked fine. Not sure if you want to upload the project, possibly someone else will be able to open it, resave it and send it back to you. Slim chance, but worth a shot.

Windows 8 also has a back up feature called “File History”, which is supposed to work like Mac’s Time Machine (I have a Mac). If you happen to already have this working, then just revert your PC back to before the crash. Otherwise, set up File History for future work. Good luck!
