I’m just learning After Effects so this is probably REALLY basic. To learn by trial and error, I decided to just click on icons to see what would happen – bad idea!

I have a pdf file of text that I am trying to use masks on to “highlight” specific areas of the document. Things were going OK, until all of a sudden, only part of the document can be seen by me at one time (and it doesn’t correspond to a mask or anything). I can see the “outline” of the entire document but only the material in a small rectangle is visible. I can “move” the document and whatever part of the document is in the viewable area is what I see.

When I got too frustrated, I just closed the file thinking that if I started a new project, everything would default back to how it started. BUT when I started a new project, the same thing is happening.

Does anyone know what I did to cause this and how to change it back?
    Thanks!

Is it a zoomed in or out really far issue? By making sure the moniter window is active and scrolling the mouse wheel will make the preview scale.

    peace,

I think I figured it out. I had changed the composition settings from “custom” to one of the DV formats. When I restarted aftereffects and made a new project leaving the settings as “custom”, I could see the whole thing again. What this tells me, is that I need to learn more about the different output formats : )
    THANKS!
