    Arniepix,

Thanks for taking a look at that image the gamma shift is a product of the png format. I just now discovered that was the the default frame output, not the ONLY frame output choice. The DV set up is a FCP configuration I chose from the many presets available. I agree the quality is not correct and after running the same video scenarios with AVID Free DV and FC Xpress 2.0 I no longer have that problem.

We had a couple of weird problems that seemed to fix themselves.

Version .0 Operating System, Version .0 Application, Version .0 Quicktime – it’s going to lead to problems somewhere. It’s a shame you had such a painful introduction to FCP, however if there is a bug (and it seems like there is) it will get fixed. That doesn’t help you now I’m afraid.

    Just a thought
Maybe you cannot use the ‘high quality’ setting if you are doing DV graphics DV just is not good enough and its errors are playing havoc with the high quality render engine.

My output looks awesome at Best for render quality.

BTW, you cannot Compare the Canvas of FCP vs. Xpress Pro: totally different animals.

I think there is definitely a problem that isn’t inidicative of FCP5. I don’t intend to be flip, but I would suggest two options: 1) pay a qualified FCP freelancer to come in for a few days and show you the best workflows to use with FCP; 2) spend the bucks for a 3-day FCP editing class as a certified training facility. I think in the long run this is money well spent. For books, check out the “Focal Press Easy Guide to FCP” by Rick Young. You are having unusual problems that are not the norm.

    Sincerely,
    Oliver
