  • HVX200 footage from FCP to DVD?

Posted by Billyhd on June 26, 2007 at 5:57 pm

    hi there,

i shot some footage using the HVX200, and edited it using final cut pro 5. my sequence settings are HD (960×720) (16:9) (i.e., letterboxed).

i am now trying to burn a high-quality DVD of this movie, intended for viewing in North America. could anyone please tell me what settings to use to (1) export the movie from FCP and (2) burn a DVD in DVD Studio Pro? i want the quality to be as high as possible.

    many thanks!

Use the encode settings consistent with the total length of your video in minutes.

Use the Dolby2/ac3 audio setting and then import the resulting ac3 and m2v files into DVD SP.

Do not use the aiff audio file.

    Use quality DVD R blanks.

thanks for all of your generous help, guys.

i followed your advice, but the image on the resulting DVD has a weird diamond/moire pattern. it’s not so bad as to be outrageous, but it’s definitely noticeable.

i’ve never encountered this kind of thing before. can anyone help?

maybe it’s my FCP sequence settings? again, i shot with the hvx200. my sequence settings are: frame size = HD (960×720) (16:9), pixel aspect ratio = 960×720, anamorphic 16:9 unchecked, editing timebase = 23.98, quicktime video settings compressor = DVCPRO HD 720p60, quality = 100%.

    many thanks!

You might check your video rates

“editing timebase = 23.98, quicktime video settings compressor = DVCPRO HD 720p60, quality = 100%.”

DVCPRO HD 720p60 is 59.94, while you mention your editing timebase is set to 23.98.

[Bill Paris] “”editing timebase = 23.98, quicktime video settings compressor = DVCPRO HD 720p60, quality = 100%.” DVCPRO HD 720p60 is 59.94, while you mention your editing timebase is set to 23.98. “

That setting is correct, the compressor (as indicated) is called 720p60 as the delivery format, there are multiple possibilities for frame rates within that compression.

there is not a setting for just 59.94
