I’ve shot footage using the Panasonic HVX200 in 1080i24P for the first time and I’m not exactly clear on the best FCP workflow and settings for my ultimate goal. I’m also seeing some serious interlacing no matter what FCP sequence settings I have.

I initially planned to work in a 960×720 frame size so that if I need to punch in for a close up, I can do it without losing resolution (as the 1280×1080 footage is scaled down to 75%). However, when I place the footage on a 960×720 video track, this the footage needs rendering even in a 23.98 video rate setting.

I also used the Remove Advanced Pulldown in the Tools menu to adjust the video rate from 29.97 to 23.98. I still get interlacing throughout. Should I use be using this tool?

The capture settings are DVCPRO HD – 1080pA24 48kHz.

Can someone please advise the best course of action?
