    Hi,

I am considering purchasing the HVX-200 but was wondering when Panasonic might release the first revision? I would hate to buy it right before a new model is released.

From what I have read it seems that the next revision will include a way to flip the display to fix the upside down image issues that happen with 35mm adapters.

Just looking for a calculated guess based on upcoming electronic shows and typical Panasonic update cycles.

    Thanks

A major revision? At least a year. There’s at least one very minor revision on the camera already- as Jan noted- a reinforced battery connection. But best time to buy a camera is when you actually need one…

I have read about the problems of the battery connection. Is Panasonic now offerring some type of revision or fix?

    Thanks,

The thing is, you don’t have to be quite so concerned about the HVX getting new features because it has the ability to take a downloaded firmware update. I don’t know if we’ll see an “HVX200A” any time soon or not, but they have the ability to make changes and have you download the new firmware. This wasn’t possible on the DVX so we had DVX100, DVX100A, DVX100B… but with the HVX an update doesn’t necessarily mean a new version of the hardware, it could be just a file you download from the Panasonic website.

Get the most from your DVX camera. The DVX Book and DVX DVD are now available on ebay and at Amazon (https://www.fiftv.com/db)

Jan mentioned here that newly shipping HVX200’s have a reinforced battery connection and if yours happens to break it’s covered by warranty.

Ahh that would be cool. Also I was wondering I have not broken the Tabs on the battery holder yet. But every time I take it off and put it on it is on my mind. My question is, can I send in my camera to have the re inforced battery holder put on or added? if I wait until the camera is out of warrenty and they break then I will have to pay for it myself I would think.
