I’m on a film set right now where we’re using the HV20 as our A camera and the EX1 as our B Camera for stylistic reasons. The HV20 has a wide angle lens and involves a lot of movement.

The HV20 is 29.97 fps and the EX1 is 23.98. We are using a 23.98 sequence in FCP and are seeing jumps in the timeline when putting the HV20 footage in with the EX1. We thought it was a pulldown issue and have tried correcting this with Compressor, After Effects, Cinema Tools, and even JES Deinterlacer (recommended online, free) to do reverse telecine with no results.

Has anyone ever encountered this or does anyone have any advice for a next step to try?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

    I’ve mixed HV20 and EX-1 footage before, but i matched up the res and frame-rates, i.e. 1080i60.
What’s your output? Try making a ProRes Timeline setting it to 1080i60 and Render your footage and export as a self-contained quicktime (Both EX-1 and HV20 Clips), bring those exported files in and try editing it on the same timeline.

    hmm… I wonder what this button does…
