    Hi there

I really hope that someone can help me out with this.

I am getting really frustrated with something in AE/Premiere

I am getting line drawings humming like mad and looking really pixilated when the play in Premiere. They all look fine in AE, its just when I import them into Premiere they look crap and hum. I tried exporting to mini DV to have a look in the cam, but it still hums and looks jagged. Below is an outline of the exact process. Hopefully if you see this you may be able to see what I am doing wrong.

    Here goes

I will take a wild guess that you have the field order set improperly. Read up on field order / interlace issues.

    Hi and thanks for that.

Did you mean to look for field orders in Premiere or AE?

I will give it a try.

    cheers

Field order can be handled differently by different programs. You need to understand the issue and have a strategy for your entire workflow. If you are using NTSC DV, then the field order is low first. Making sure that all your programs read low-first and create low-first is the best way to go. If you are working PAL-DV then you need to look up what the correct field order is.

The characteristics of bad field order is that a diagonal line will not be smooth but rather segmented. This can make video look very bad indeed.

This may not even be your problem, but it is something you need to understand and account for. Google is your friend in this case!

Yes. I have been reading up on field orders and interlacing. And you are right, Google really is my best friend for this. Reams of information. Thanks again for all your advice. You have been a great help.
