  • HPX171: shooting on NTSC but PAL user and exporting / rendering on Sony Vegas

Hey folks – I am looking to shoot 1080 at 24 frames & maybe more / less on a HPX 171. To do this on the camera I have to change the frequency to NTSC mode.

I am a PAL user and you cannot shoot variable frames on the PAL frequency for 1080 – only 720.

When rendering on Sony Vegas 9.0 what settings should I use for MP4 in terms of frame rate etc to avoid blurriness / lost frames?

Do I render at 25 frames PAL, 24 PAL, 29 NTSC?

Seems to confuse me a lot…

If I seem too vague please let me know and I can expand on answers

    Thanks in advance

The HPX170 does not shoot VFR in 1080 or 720p. Is the 171 different?

You can try a 25p sequence for the edit.

In NTSC land with VFR, you can have a 720/24p sequence and drop the VFR footage in that.

    Shoot 25p
    Edit 25p
