How would I achieve this text/blur effect?
Hi , I was wondering how I would achieve this text/blur effect in these two examples ? I’ve tried making two layers of the text and using Gaussian blur on the bottom layer, but it’s not quite the same.

It’s hard to tell from the video examples exactly what problem you are having. Can you be a bit more specific?
The text in the video seems to me to be a simple combination of movement and fade. Assuming Vegas Pro, that’s easy to do with the pan/crop feature applied to a text event on a track above the actual video. As you mentioned, you can also create a duplicate track, then mask off/keyframe the text on the top track and apply FX such as blur or defocus, and selectively fade at the desired points.
