I want to create some boxes and very large text in photoshop then bring it into Final cut so that the video clips in the background can be seen through the boxes and text. How do I achieve this effect. thank you.

If you mean semi-transparent text, double click it and go to its ‘Motion’ tab. Opacity for the object is in there.

If you’re talking about a matte where you ONLY see though the text and not anywhere else, then create the graphic as pure black and white in photoshop (white text, black background) and drop a luminance key filter onto it in Final Cut.

So i have a logo I am working with in Final Cut 6. It is a white logo with a black background and what I want is just the video being shown through the logo only (the white), not the background (I want the background to remain black). How do I come about doing this? I assume its something with layers but if you could, please explain step by step on how to do it. Thanks a billion!
